Compliments are great for expressing your appreciation of a woman, but it is a tool that needs to be used correctly if you want it to work in your favor. If it is it can greatly improve your chances of picking up women, whereas if not you will only make yourself look boring and unoriginal. Keep in mind the following whenever next you intend to use it:

First of all be sincere. If you are not she will notice, and she certainly will not like it. Secondly be detailed. Telling her that she is wearing a great outfit is not as interesting or conducive to an answer as telling her why you think so.

Thirdly originality is required for the compliment to pique her interest. Attractive women are used to being complimented on their appearance. Instead go for a personality trait or perhaps an unusual clothing item. Take the same approach with those who are often praised for their intellect or clothing style, instead focusing on a feature of them that is not often noticed by others. Not only will it make you seem more observant, but she will also be flattered that you noticed something most other men do not.

Yet fourthly, while you should try to compliment her on something she does not expect, it does not hurt to realize that most women put a lot more of time into their looks and outfits than most men would ever care to. While it should never be your opening line, you may acknowledge it on occasion as you get to know her better.

Fifthly and finally do not overuse compliments in trying to pick up women. While a small amount of them will make her feel special, showering her in them will reflect badly on you. Most likely you will seem pathetic and desperate for a girlfriend, which in turn will be a turn-off for her.
