Sometimes men have no problem picking up women, yet they can’t seem to get a girlfriend that’s interested in them for who they are. Sure, it seems like these women are interested at first, but eventually you realize that they only want to go out when it’s somewhere fancy and expensive and you’re picking up the tab.

It can be disheartening when it seems like every woman out there is looking to get their hands into your pocket book. Particularly if you’re just trying to look for a serious relationship with someone who genuinely likes you. Eventually it begins t feel like every woman out there is a gold-digger and it’s not worth bothering with.

The trouble is, you may have been sending out negative signals that attract these types of women. One of the most common problems is that men feel that they need to make prospective girlfriends aware that they would be an excellent provider. As such, they invite women to expensive restaurants or buy them expensive gifts. When they date women they act like financial burdens are a thing of the imagination.

The problem with this approach, other than causing you to go broke every time you meet a new woman, is that you begin to attract only women who are interested in your pocketbook instead of your personality. In fact, a lot of women out there that are not interested in your money, the very women you are looking for, will become uninterested in you when you buy them expensive things. This loss of interest can happen for several reasons;

1. When a man offers to buy everything for a lady it is obvious that he is trying to impress her. A normal woman might wonder why you’re trying so hard to impress her and begin to think that there must be something wrong with you that you’re compensating for. This will make her hesitant to be with you, because she’ll keep imagining something is wrong and the more money you spend on her, the worse she will think it is.

2. Some men flaunt their money, because they genuinely have a lot of money and believe that it will raise their status or make them a better person. Normal women will be more interested in who you are than how much you make and they will not want to date someone who feels that money makes all of the difference.

3. Some women equate how much you spend on gifts or a date to be a signal of how committed you are to the relationship. This is where the Silver, Gold, and Platinum wedding anniversaries stems from. The longer you have been together, the more expensive the metal signifying the value of your relationship. As such, spending a lot of money on dates and gifts now will scare these women away, because they will think that you are attributing to them the commitment they would expect from a husband of ten or twenty-five years.

4. By spending a lot of money on gifts and dates at the beginning of a relationship you set the stage for an extravagant relationship where money is no issue. Some women will believe that this is impractical and, whether you have lots of money or not, will always worry about your eventual bankruptcy from over spending. Women don’t want to marry someone who is ready to empty their life savings at the drop of a hat, because that leaves nothing for the future.

5. Women can sense dishonesty and inconsistency in your personality. If you are spending a lot of money, even though you don’t have a lot to begin with, you will send her subconscious signals that you are trying to be a different person than you really are. This will make her hesitant to be your girlfriend, because she may not know exactly what you are being dishonest about and will worry that she cannot trust you.

The best way to avoid Gold-diggers and get the girlfriend of your dreams is to stop spending so much money when you are picking up women. You don’t need to empty out your bank accounts to get girls to like you, because the type of woman you are trying to attract will be interested in your personality.

This isn’t to say that you cannot pay for dates or that you should not buy them presents. Just do things a little more cost effectively. Not only will you avoid Gold-diggers and stop scaring away normal women, but you’re bank account will be a little bit less empty and that’s something we can all appreciate.
