Many men who find their dream girls go to desperate lengths to pick them up. Unfortunately these men do not realize that their over-enthusiasm often increases the likelihood of failure at doing so. Suffice it to say that if you are too persistent in competing for her attention you will only seem clingy, obsessive or desperate, and unless the girl has issues of her own that are accommodated by such traits – be it insecurity or a need for control — she is likely to give you the cold shoulder.

The trick is to apply equal or greater amounts of enthusiasm to the rest of your life. Having a life, as it is often called, broadcasts a more attractive and well-adjusted image than the single-minded pursuit of a girlfriend. Moreover it will ward off boredom and help you build confidence, which in turn is an attribute that will work in your favor when it comes to attracting female attention.

If you are active by default, it is a simple matter of living your life as you always have regardless of how much you would rather try to woe her. If on the other hand you have lots of time on your hands, find ways of filling your life with activity. Divide your time between friendships, hobbies, interests and achievements in either work or study. If you are not sure of what these might be, experiment in order to find out. It might not only help you in getting a girlfriend, but you might also discover a new passion.

Pay attention to the girl you want in appropriate ways when you are able to, but do not let it interfere with your pre-existing plans. Should you succeed in making her your girlfriend there might come a time when it pays to compromise between your respective interests, but until then you should make it clear that she is far from the only thing in your life.
