Getting the girl you like to go out with you does not mean that you have successfully caught her. You might have won the first battle, but you have not won the war, and if you do not take care to maintain her interest your chances of going steady with her are slim indeed.

Yet dating is a step up from being friends or acquaintances. While making her feel special is still the key to retaining her admiration, you are better off flaunting how great you are in different ways from how you did before you asked her out.

Attention is still important. However at this stage you should have started to get to know each other better. Remembering details is perhaps the best way to show how attentive you are to her needs. Anything from recalling her favorite drink to surprising her for her birthday is fair game.

Surprises are, unsurprisingly enough, also a way to impress her. Unexpected gifts or spontaneous outings are great ways of keeping her on her toes. While overdoing it will make you seem wasteful, restless and unwilling to accept routine in your love life, occasional indulgences will show her a romantic side to you that she will doubtlessly appreciate.

Yet romance should have a limited place in your budding relationship. Be sure to also invite her along for hanging out with your friends. Doing so will make her feel like you are proud of seeing her and that you want others to know that you are dating. The reverse naturally also applies, as by hanging out with her and her friends you show an active interest of being involved in her life.

Talking or even flirting with other girls is still relevant as a means of reminding her that you are attractive to others. Mild jealousy could work in your favor, but be very careful with how far you go on this point. While it does not hurt to appear desirable you want to cultivate trust at this stage, and to this end apparent promiscuity is detrimental.
